Pink Taxi Scheme for Women to Roll Out in Sindh This December

The Sindh government has officially announced that the Pink Taxi Scheme for Women will be launched in December 2025, Transport Minister Sharjeel Memon confirmed on Monday.

The initiative was first revealed by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari last week during a ceremony in Karachi, where the provincial government distributed free electric Pink Scooters to women.

At the event, Bilawal handed over keys to female recipients, saying the scheme was designed to provide safe and affordable transport options for female students and working women across Sindh.

He also underlined that empowering women remains a central priority of Sindh’s development agenda.

The Pink Taxi service will follow earlier steps taken by the government, such as the Pink Bus project in Karachi and electric buses across the province.

Alongside women’s mobility, the provincial leadership recently launched the Benazir Hari Card scheme to provide relief to farmers affected by floods, signaling a broader push for inclusive social support.

Officials said final preparations are underway to ensure that the service is functional by year-end.
