The Karachi Traffic Police have issued a strong warning to citizens about a surge in fake SMS messages pretending to be official e-challans.
According to the department, scammers are sending texts from private mobile numbers, asking people to pay fines through EasyPaisa or other unofficial links.
“These messages are fake, misleading, and fraudulent. The Karachi Traffic Police never send challan notifications via personal numbers or third-party accounts,” the police clarified in an official statement.
What You Should Do:
Ignore any suspicious SMS about challan payments.
Do not transfer money to unknown numbers or links.
Always verify challans through official government portals.
If in doubt, contact the Karachi Traffic Police helpline.
The advisory also urged citizens to safeguard their personal information and avoid falling into scams targeting unsuspecting motorists.
